WebTools APIs available on usps.com – Register at least 24hrs before

 

The USPS Web Tools® API library is an available resource for SJSU hackathon participants.  These APIs enable access to USPS data to help with everything from shipping rates to tracking information to scheduling a package pickup.

 

You will need to register online at least 24 hours before the hackathon. 

  1. Navigate to USPS WebTools® API Portal:

https://www.usps.com/business/web-tools-apis/welcome.htm

  1. Click on the Register Now button
  2. Fill out the registration form and click on the Submit button

Once registered, you will receive an automated email with your Web Tools User ID within about 1 hour. With the assigned User ID, you will then be able to access the following APIs:

  • Price Calculators - calculate postage rates for domestic and international shipping
  • Package Tracking - get estimated delivery information and track packages
  • Service Standards & Commitments
  • Address Information (Some restrictions apply. See API documentation.)
